GERD and Apple Cider Vinegar

A while back the Chief Blonde over at Still Blonde After All These Years posted about how she managed her GERD and stopped taking Proton Pump Inhibitors. She said she was using Apple Cider Vinegar to control it and had managed to stop taking the PPI.  She posted some information about the possible side effects of PPI that were pretty scary. Besides they are more expensive than vinegar. She made the point also that it HAS to be Apple Cider Vinegar. Regular vinegar isn’t the same.

So after reading this I decided to try it. I tried her recipe at first but I can’t see how in the world she stands that. Two teaspoons at a time is just way too much for me. So I halved it. I have been using it for just over a month now and have had no huge flare ups yet. It seems to be working for me.  It should be noted that I also need to lose some weight and stop drinking so much coffee. Both of those things would help a lot according to a couple of medical information websites. Those websites are PubMedHealth and WebMD.

I have raised the head of my bed a bit but not as much as they say to. So I’m gonna have to get my husband to fix that. Maybe put another board under the head of the bed. After reading all the possible damage you can have from this I am even more glad I read the Blondes post.

If you haven’t ever visited her you should go read that post. And while you are there check out a few of her fashion posts. She posted recently on how to wear a Maxi dress  if you are over 45. Good stuff for us older women…and yes you younger ones will need to know this someday too!
