The Simplified Guide: Paul’s Letters to the Churches is one of the most helpful books I have read about the Bible. I would recommend this for anyone who would like to understand Paul’s letters better. Or for people who think they already understand everything Paul said (after all they could be wrong).
It is easy to read and written in clear language that even a simple woman like me can easily understand.
It is organized around themes. He gathers everything Paul had to say about a particular subject and put’s it all together. So you are not so much exploring each book as exploring ideas.
The first section is titled Right Beliefs and in it he gathers everything Paul had to say about what we should believe including the message of salvation, the resurrection, and who Jesus is, remaining faithful to the true gospel, division in the church and much more.
The second section is titled Right Conduct and brings together everything Paul had to say about how Christians should conduct themselves.
The third section is titled Right Relationships and is all about Paul’s instructions on how we are to relate to other people. There are sections on what Paul says about how we are to treat our families, our neighbors, people in our Church, and people who need help of one sort or another.
This book was really helpful. It clarified a few things that I had not fully understood. Paul’s letters are not exactly easy to understand and having the instructions put into separate subjects made it much easier.
About the Book (from the back cover) :
Paul’s letters were written for “all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Cor. 1:2). He wrote to regular Christians, like you and me, about the daily challenges we confront in our walk with Christ. Paul is very clear—the gospel message of salvation is simple, straightforward and available to all who come in faith.
