I used to make onion soup without measuring the amount of onion, but after getting a kitchen scale, found out that the soup tasted a whole lot better if I used the scale to make sure enough onion was in it.
Having a good digital scale makes measuring for recipes really easy.
This Digital Touchscreen Scale from Fraser is really nice. The platform is made of tempered safety glass. It is accurate, and can show measures in grams, kilograms, ounces, and pounds, and can measure up to 11 lbs.
It has an on/off/tare function too. All you have to do is touch the screen to change the measures or turn on the tare function.
The digital readout is easy to see too.
One of things I really liked about this scale is that it is black and shiny, and so pretty! It matches my kitchen counters and looks really nice on them.
I have used the scale for weighting meats and vegetables so far. I really like how easy it is to use, and how easy it is to read the numbers. I can read them without my glasses, which is really good, because half the time I forget to take my glasses to the kitchen.
