Honey Bees

There are no bees buzzing around the garden here this year. From my readings it seems that most of the bees in Arkansas may well die this summer. I believe the same thing is happening in other areas as well. Apparently there is some disease that is killing them or causing them to get lost and not be able to find their way home. Which means that there may not be much if any honey this year…or possibly for years to come. It also means that farmers will be in trouble. Bees are the main pollinators for many crops and without them the plants can’t produce. This includes many fruits and vegetable. Of course the price for those that are produced will likely go up as well. Which means more expensive grocery shopping.

As this will affect us all…let us all hope the bees manage to survive and make a comeback.
