If You Are Moving From Blogger To WordPress

Be very careful moving from Blogger to WordPress. Or from anywhere to WordPress. Or the other way round!

I had a problem with my Feedburner subscribers the first couple of days. I’m not sure but I may have forgotten to click on the save button when I changed my feed address. Then again it might have just been a Feedburner glitch. I have read that they sometimes seem to lose subscribers for days at time.

Yesterday I also noticed that some of my posts were missing. On the importer it shows the total number of posts and the number it transferred each time. Make sure the total number of posts match! I’m not sure how I managed it but several of my posts did not transfer and I didn’t notice till I was looking at the archives and the numbers seemed low.  It would have been easy to fix this if I had noticed at the time – the Blogger to WordPress eBook says that you can import several times.

So if you are doing this…double check everything! And then go back and check it again. Because I thought it was right when I did it…and it turned out not to be. So better to check it several times. It was only a few posts and they were easy to copy/paste but that is beside the point. If I had been paying attention it wouldn’t have happened. And it took me two weeks to notice!! I have been sick and there were holidays…but really I should have caught that.

So don’t make the same mistake I did.  And if you do…let me know so I won’t feel so lonesome!

  1. I noticed when I moved from Blogger to WP, all my feedburner subscribers transferred over just fine. Then a week later, it was suddenly down from 2400 to 700. How does that happen?? :( I’ve been busy with other stuff and don’t know how to fix it.

Stumbled this post from the Stumble Upon hop.
