What Do You Keep In Your Kitchen Pantry?

The Lazy Gourmet by Robin Donovan & Juliana Gallin One of the things I learned from reading The Lazy Gourmet is that figureing out what to cook and being able to cook it is a lot easier if your kitchen is kept stocked with some basic items.

I’m assuming that what is consided necessary really depends on what you like to cook…and how much you know about cooking.

Anyway the book had some recommendations.  Some of the things they said you should keep in the kitchen are :

Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, different kinds of cheeses, onions, pasta, rice, flavored oils and vinegars, and dijon mustard.

I do not yet have all of those but I do now some vinegars, olive oil, and cheese. Oh and there were some different herbs listed too. I have a few of those now too.

I used some of what I learned tonight when trying to decide what to cook for supper.

I had some boneless, skinless chicken breasts…so I put some olive oil and lemon pepper on it…put it on foil with some potatoes, onion, and celery. Baked for almost an hour.

It made the house smell really good. I haven’t eaten any of it yet because hubby and stepson both decided to be late tonight. But I am about to quit waiting on them and eat by myself. I’m hungry!!

  1. That was the best baked chicken I have ever cooked. My hubby agreed with me on that. Stepson still hasn’t showed up…he may not get dinner tonight. He went fishing.

  2. I make oatmeal daily for breakfast so I buy a mason jar full once a week from the nearest grocery store and put it in our pantry.
