Tropical Traditions offered me the chance to review thier Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil and I jumped at it.
I have seen information about Tropical Traditions on other sites and all thier products looked good. I also love coconut so I figured coconut oil just had to be good!
I was right too. I love the smell of the oil. And it is also pretty in the jar. It is a white color and it is actually hard like butter unless it gets too warm.
I mostly used it to fry things as I don’t do a lot of bakeing. I did however use in some bisquets one morning instead of the butter I usually use. My grandmother used to just put regular grease in hers…so I figured this was bound to be better than that!
The bisquets came out really good too. I couldn’t really tell a difference in the taste. They were good.
I have fried eggs in the coconut oil and I love the way they smell as they are cooking. I’m thinking the coconut oil is better for that than the canola I usually use. I’m not sure if there is really a taste to it or if it is my imagination because of liking the smell…but they do taste good!
You can watch this really interesting video about how they discovered and started produceing the coconut oil.
I really like the fact that they employ a lot of families to help make the oil instead of sending it to some automated factory.
If you are looking for some recipes or other ways to use coconut oil they have a lot of them on thier website.
