The Enchanted Truth: A Modern-day Fairy Tale for Grown-up Girls is a wonderful book! It is short (43 pages), and small. It looks like a children’s book but it is really for grown up girls.
It is about how girls (of any age!) shouldn’t wait around for Prince Charming because even if Prince Charming shows up at all he isn’t going to miraculously make everything in your life perfect. At least not after the new wears off.
The point of the story is to show that you need to be living your life and making yourself happy. Not waiting around for some perfect man to come and “fix” things.
For one things…there are no “perfect” men out there. Or women either. And even the ones that come close to being perfect (for you anyway) are not going to be able to do everything for you. You will still need friends and hobbies and family and things you like to do just because.
So you might as well be making those friends and enjoying those hobbies and being happy now!
The author makes the point in a very amusing story that is fun to read. I really enjoyed it and it made me do a bit of thinking about my own life. While I’m not waiting for Mr. Right anymore (already found him!) I have been putting some other things off. And waiting for things to be “right” before you start just as bad. You might wait forever.
From the front cover flap :
Believe it or not, a girl can’t count on Prince Charming to wake her from a hundred years of heavy sleep . . . and happily ever after doesn’t always meet you at the end of the aisle.
In this humorous and insightful tale, a modern day princess finds herself single and asking for magical intervention to change her sorry love life. Rather than casting a spell to bring Prince Charming to her rescue, a savvy fairy godmother gives the tenderhearted damsel an unexpected gift. By entrusting her true thoughts and desires to an unlikely confidant, the young royal soon discovers that the person who could make her life everything she dreamed it would be has been with her all along.
About the Author :
Kym Petrie wrote The Enchanted Truth for a friend who was caught up in a disenchanting/disappointing search for Prince Charming. The tale had an unexpected impact; it inspired Kym to take a closer look at the choices she herself was making. Canadian born and bred, Kym is now living happily ever after with her family in South Carolina.
