A Mother Who Reads Is A Wonderful Thing

My mom was a reader long before I came along. At least I can’t remember a time when she didn’t have something she was reading.

She taught me to read before I started school.  And she read to me every night when I was little. Sometimes the same thing over and over….The City Mouse And The Country Mouse was a favorite.

She also made a lot of my clothes back when I was little. She didn’t stop doing that till I was about 14 or 15 I think.

She taught me how to cook and keep house too. She is still teaching me some things because up till recently I wasn’t really much interested in cooking.

My mom was a beautician for years but she retired when we moved and now she only does hair for family, friends, and neighbors.

She is really good at figuring out how make a place look great. She helped my cousin with her decorating and she helped me with figuring out how to arrange my place.

She is pretty good at listening and just hanging out too.

She does have an addiction though. Yep Farmville got her. I’m not sure she is going to recover from that.

I love her anyway. Happy Mother’s Day Mom!

  1. Happy Mother’s Day!! Great post and I agree 100%. My mum is the one who really got me reading. Even though English is not our native language, she got me lots of English books as a kid.

    1. Yea it is sort of funny….for years she had no real interest in computer stuff except for genealogy and then Facebook got popular and the family kept on her to join up…and they got her playing…and she just never quit.
