Woolzies Dryer Balls Review

Picture of a box of Woolzies Dryer BallsI had heard of dryer balls and had even been told to put a clean tennis ball in the dryer to help fluff up pillows or towels but had not ever actually seen or used any of them.

After hearing that they also act as a fabric softener and can replace dryer sheets completely I wanted to try them so when offered a chance to review the Woolzies Dryer Balls I took it.

They are supposed to soften clothes naturally instead of with chemicals like regular fabric softeners and sheets do. Since lots of people are allergic to the chemicals that would be really helpful. Even if you are not allergic the chemicals are probably not good for you anyway.

You just put the balls into the dryer just like you would a dryer sheet. For small loads you could put fewer balls but for regular size loads they recommend putting all 6 balls(one box).

Some Woolzies Dryer Balls in my dryer.

These dryer balls do soften the clothes. I haven’t noticed much difference in the clothes dried using them and the ones using the dryer sheets. Except for the scent. The Woolzies do not have a scent.

If you want your clothes scented you can add a couple of drops of an essential oil to one or two of the balls and put them in with the clothes. They even make an essential oil with my favorite lavender scent! So you don’t have to do without the scent unless you want to.

They do help remove wrinkles from the clothes too and since the balls help to spread the clothes in the dryer so the air circulates more the clothing dries faster which can save quite a bit of energy too. I’m all for anything that reduces the electric bill.

The Woolzies brand of dryer balls is handmade from New Zealand wool. Since the wool does NOT touch your skin and doesn’t shed either it is safe even for people with allergies to wool. So long as they don’t play with them or something. If you have a kid who is allergic to wool be sure you keep these where they can’t get at them. They look just like regular balls and the kids might just take off with them.

The balls are supposed to be good for 1000 loads. I haven’t used them near that many times yet. At our current rate they will last for at least a year (only two of us to wash for). Some of you with kids have to do laundry more often but that is still a lot of loads.  And the balls cost less per load than the name brand dryer sheets and there are no chemicals!

I like that.

Woolzies can be found on Facebook and Twitter.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
