Swagbucks Is Easier Than I Expected

Swagbucks logo.I finally joined Swagbucks a few days ago. I hadn’t joined it before because I had the notion that it was one of those things where they send you heaps of emails and you have to to do hundreds of surveys.

It isn’t like that at all. At least so far. They have only sent me three emails, including the confirmation. I could probably get them to send me more if I changed my settings, but I’m happy with this.

It also has a lot of different ways to earn Swagbucks. I have only done the easy things so for, like the daily polls which are very short polls, that take only a minute or two to do.

I have spent at most 20 minutes a day on the site (maybe less). I would have already gotten enough to get my first Amazon.com gift card, but I couldn’t resist spending some of my bucks to enter giveaways.

I can watch the videos they have on there at the same time I am going through and deleting spam emails.  Easy!

I figure if I get $10 worth of  Gift Cards each month, which I am well on the way to getting already, I won’t have to worry about paying for the books I want. Then again I could save up some for Christmas shopping.

Decisions.  Decisions.

Nah. I’m buying books!

If you are thinking about signing up I’d appreciate it if you use my referral link (all the links in this post) because if you do I will get some extra Swagbucks, which means I can get those books faster, which will make me very happy.

Early Christmas Shopping?

That is a great excuse isn’t it?

I have been buying a few things lately that we don’t necessarily NEED. Like these Hotter shoes –

My Runba shoes from Hotter USA.I didn’t really NEED any new shoes. I could have worn the old ones I have, but I really really wanted some shoes that would not hurt my feet(or at least hurt them less).

The Neon shoes I got from Hotter to review were very comfortable, and all of their shoes are supposed to be very comfortable.

I went looking at their website and they have lots of nice dress shoes. I fell in love with the Rumba and amazingly enough they do have them in wide (on the black ones anyway), so I could not resist. I bought a pair of the black ones in wide.

I did get the discount for it being my first purchase from them, and they had a sale going on, so I got the shoes for much less than the regular price, which made me very happy (not to mention the hubby).

The new shoes arrived in time for me to wear them to my father-in-laws funeral, and they are the most comfortable dress shoes I have ever worn. I spent much of the day standing up and while my feet did start to hurting later in the day it wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been.

If I had been wearing my old shoes I would have had to take them off part way through the day, because my bunions would have been screaming at me.

So I am really happy with the dress shoes. If you are looking for some new ones (or a present for someone ) be sure you check out the Hotter USA website.

My husbands cell phone was not working right anymore, so I also bought me and the hubby new phones from Tracfone. The android phones they came out with recently.

We already had phones from Tracfone, and didn’t want to lose the minutes we already had, and we couldn’t find other phones that we could afford that would actually work where we live.

This area has lots of dead zones, and the only reason it works at our house is because we have wi-fi. We switched to phone service from the cable company because it was cheaper than the land line, and my Cap-Tel (captioned calls) phone would still work. My Cap-Tel Phone for captioned phone calls.

The new phones mean that I am finally able to get an Instagram account. If you are on Instagram would you please follow me? Pretty please? With sugar on top? If I throw in a cherry?? Thank you!

I’m still learning how to use the phone, and the camera.  I didn’t think it would be that complicated, but it is going to take me a while to figure everything out. I am loving the camera on the phone. It is much easier to use than that old digital camera I was using.

I told my hubby that all this stuff is our Christmas. He seems to be ok with that. We will see.

Have you done any Christmas shopping already? Regular shopping? Halloween?

Tried Everything To Quit Smoking?

Have you tried Quit Tea? Picture of a box of Quit Tea.

Just about every resource you can find about quitting smoking will tell you that in order to quit you need to replace the bad habit of smoking with another habit. Hopefully a good habit. Like drinking herbal tea :)

It is possible to quit smoking without changing to a good habit…but it is a lot harder and usually takes longer.

What you do is….every time you have the urge to smoke…you drink some herbal tea instead. So you are actually doing something.

Many people say a big part of the smoking habit is the actions involved…the taking it out, lighting it up, inhaling….that occupy your attention and become so routine that you don’t even notice doing them sometimes.

Just stopping takes away the activity…but if you don’t replace it with another activity…you will catch yourself doing the actions without thinking about them….and might just end up smoking again before you even realize it is happening.

That is why replacing the habit with a good habit can be so helpful.

Quit Tea is made of herbs and spices that help you relax and help reduce anxiety and nervousness.

Some of the ingredients are : Valerian Root, Sarsaparilla, St. John’s Wort, Red Clover, Licorice, Cinnamon, Ginger, Burdock, Cloves, Oregano, Fennel, Cayenne Pepper, and Black Pepper.

If you have tried everything else…well trying this tea certainly isn’t going to hurt and it is cheaper than many other smoking cessation aids. And even if it doesn’t help you…it is still good for you!

The folks at Quit Tea are going to be offering one of my readers(US only) the chance to win 2 boxes of Quit Tea, a book called “Quit Smoking with Herbal Tea” and a Quit Tea tumbler.

Quit Tea Tumbler.Be sure and stop by on Monday the 21st to  enter the Summer Heat Giveaway Hop. If you want to get a head start on entries you can follow their social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Thinking About Starting A Diet Program?

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links.

Diet-to-Go is offering Free meals for a day. That comes to $20 savings.

Free meals for a day.

So if you were thinking about joining a meal delivery diet program this would be a good time.

And there is still time to loose enough weight to fit into that bathing suit before it gets really hot! Maybe. Depends on how much you need to lose. It will take me a bit longer than that(it is already getting pretty hot here).

This company delivers some really great food that is made fresh, frozen, and shipped out each week. They have several different diets to choose from for those who have special needs.

There is the Traditional Low Fat Diet Meal Plan which is the one I chose to review last summer. This one has some really delicious meals included.

They also have a Vegetarian and a Low-Carb meal plan.

Check out this post from last summer for more information.

Easy Way To Keep Up With Your Money

I have never been really good at budgeting. I always thought budgeting was hard and got frustrated with trying to figure out how to portion out my money.

I have tried several money management programs through the years including Microsoft money when it first came out years ago.

Back then everything had to be put in manually and I would always end up forgetting to put something in and get confused when nothing matched. Or I would just get frustrated with tying to set it up so I could actually see where it was going.

I tried a couple of other programs last year and though they have improved a great deal in the last few years (you can now download all your bank info) they still seem too confusing to me.

I could figure out how to track my checking pretty easy with all of those programs.  Unfortunately figuring out how to get all the other accounts (savings, credit cards, cash) on there so I knew where all my money was and what it should be used for was just frustrating and I gave up.

Logo for You Need A Budget.

But then I saw a post about the You Need A Budget software.  I downloaded the free 34 day free trial and got it all set up within an hour or so. It only took that long because of putting in ALL my accounts at one time. I wanted to get it all done and over with.

What I really really like about this program is that it has a separate budget section.  The program allows you to set accounts as being either on the budget or off the budget. If it is on the budget then it shows on your budget page. If the account is off budget it doesn’t show on your budget page and you manage it separately.

So I can see everything that affects my budget in one place. I have it set up with master categories for things that have to be paid each month (mortgage, water bill, electric), things that are optional (cable, phone), things that need to be paid quarterly or yearly (insurance, taxes), and things that we are saving up for (new car, emergencies).

One of the best things about this program is that you are NOT supposed to budget any money until you actually have that money in your hand (or account).  At that time you add the income to the program and figure out what you need(or want) to use the money for. I have a category for dinners out…just because I like eating out occasionally and I would feel deprived if I couldn’t do that at all.

That makes it much easier to figure out how much money you can spend or if you even have any discretionary money. One of my problems always was forgetting what needed to be paid and spending too much on something else.

Now I can set up the budget and see exactly how much is needed where. I am loving this program and I went on and bought my very own copy. You can use the program on multiple computers or on a mobile device as long as all of those are for your own use. So if you are out shopping you could check your budget to see if you have money while you are in the store.

You can download a 34 day free trial of the software here if you would like to try it out yourself. If you decide you like the program and decide to buy it (like I did) you can get a discount by coming back here and using this $6 off link.

Their website has some really good tutorials that walk you through just about everything you might want to do with it. And a great support section too.

Formula Maker Could Be A Boon To Moms

I remember having to make bottles when baby sitting my grand-baby. If you want to boil the water(safer for young babies) you have to wait for it to cool and then hope you don’t cool it too much. If you make the bottles ahead then you have to warm them back up and maybe get them too hot and have to cool them again.

This new Piena Tender Touch Baby Formula Maker
could really make that easier. From what I read on their website it boils the water and cools it down in under two minutes. They have some videos on YouTube you can check out to see how it works.

That means you can fix a safe, sanitary bottle a lot quicker! You still have to clean the bottles and everything else of course but not having to heat and cool the water would save a lot of time.

It has a section that stores the formula so you just turn it to drop the formula into the bottle. It is supposed to keep the formula fresh and dry for up to 4 weeks.

All you moms should check it out and see what you think. You can visit The Piena Facebook page for more information. Piena can also be found on Twitter at @PieanaInc and on Indiegogo.

Little Monsters Gear – Tees and Onezees For Your Little Monster

Little Monsters Gear – Tees and Onezees For Your Little Monster

Picture of a Little Monsters Tee on a little girl.Little Monsters Gear has the cutest t-shirts and Onezees for kids! The shirts are made of cotton and are printed by hand.

There are lots of cute monsters to choose from too. Some are Fierce and some are Gentle. Each one has a front design and a back design. My favorites are Sweet Pea and Goober.

Each monster has its own personality and comes with a story. Some are adventurous and some are lovable and some get into trouble all the time. Each one is different and you are bound to find one that will suit your child.

Their sizes fit kids up to 8 years old. The onezees are for those up to 18 months. Picture of a Little Monsters Onezee on a toddler.

They also have bibs, burb cloths, and leg warmers that are really cute. Almost makes me wish I had some babies handy just so I could dress ’em up.

And you can get your very own personalized monster too! Just use their monster builder to pick the body, eyes, and mouth of your monster. Choose the name you want your monster to have and submit it to them.

The company was started by a woman who grew up on a large family and got the idea from the names her father called his children.

For more information and updates visit the Little Monsters Gear website and “like” them on Facebook.
