Still A Wonderful Pan For Cooking

Big pan from WaxonWare. I reviewed this saute pan from Waxonware a while back. I loved it then, and I love it now.

In fact I loved it so much that I bought one of the frying pans too. I loved it too. I still love it.Frying pan from Waxonware.I use these all the time. They are still in the same shape except the saute pan has stained slightly right in the middle. From cooking too fast or too hot and letting the pan get too dry while cooking (cause I wasn’t paying attention ).

They are both still non-stick. I have had to clean them with baking soda a few times.

I love the fry pan for cooking my husbands eggs in the morning. He likes them fried with the yellow still slightly runny and non-broken. If the eggs stick you end up with broken yolks. So far no sicking.

It is looking like these pans will last for years and still be just as good. I really like that.

I’ve thought about getting one of the covered caserole/dutch oven pans, but I don’t really that much cooking that would use it.

What is your favorite cookware?

Other than these pans I still use my grandmothers Corning Ware. I love it too.

Tall Salt And Pepper Grinders

Tall Salt and Pepper grinders from Daily Kitchen. These Tall Salt and Pepper Grinders from Daily Kitchen are great for use in the kitchen.

I have some of my spices out on a lazy susan and having the salt and pepper stick up over the other stuff makes it easier to grab.

I like the looks of these too. Tall and pretty. The top is shiny. They are easy to hold.

Tall salt grinder in my hand. The grinder is ceramic and you can adjust it to real fine or coarse. These can be used to grind any other kinds of spices or herbs you need.

The top comes off easy and they are easy to fill and refill. I am very happy with them. I’m gonna give my other set to my cousin and keep these.

Brieftons QuickPull Food Chopper Review

Brieftons Tall QuickPull Food Chopper.I had fun with this Tall QuickPull Food Chopper from Brieftons. Pulling the handle and watching the onions swirl around is pretty neat.

Even if you have an electric chopper, this one would be good to have for those times when the power goes out. We were without electricity for 17 days once. Several areas of the US have been without electricity because of storms. It is nice to still be able to chop food easy, when your electric stuff doesn’t work.

If you are one of those folks that likes to go off into the woods for weeks, then you will like this too. It isn’t heavy, you can carry other things inside it, and it can chop most foods.

It not only chops it mixes. You can put your eggs in there for omelets and pull a few times. You end up with nice fluffy eggs. The mixer will work with any relatively thin items.

And it comes with a lid so if you are making something that doesn’t get used immediately, just put the lid on and store till needed.

Chopped onion and garlic.

I chopped up my garlic and onion mix for Stroganoff in this. Planning to us it for my bell pepper and onion that goes in meat loaf too.

I pulled the cord a few times and ended up with really fine onion. It would make great relish. I like this food chopper!

Been Looking For A No-Stick Pan

Finally got one! This big Saute and Fry Pan from WaxonWare is really wonderful.

Big pan from WaxonWare. It holds 4.5 quarts of whatever you want to cook. I have not used it to full capacity yet. I’m planning to use it for making chicken dumplings soon. I don’t need to cook enough for a horde so it should be more than big enough.

Frying potatoes in the WaxonWare pan.

I have used this pan for frying potatoes twice. And made Stroganoff in it once.

Making Stroganoff in the WaxonWare pan.

I have also made our breakfast gravy in it.

Nothing has stuck to this pan so far. Not even the least little bit.

I’m gonna use it for frying pork chops next time I do that. I expect it to work wonderfully well.

The bottom of the pan is really nice. Supposed to distribute heat evenly and it seems to do a good job of that.

Bottom of WaxonWare pan.You can use this pan on any cooking surface including induction stoves. It can be washed in the dishwasher but they recommend you wash it by hand to make it last longer.

It washes really easy. You can pretty much just wipe it out if you are gonna use again immediately. I did that once. No scrubbing needed at all. So far anyway.

The glass lid has a silicone rim and an opening so you can pour liquid out. I love the lid!

It is PTFE, PFOA, and APEO Free.

It comes with a 30 day money back guarantee and a 3 year limited warranty.

This has become my go-to pan for anything that might stick. I really needed a good no stick pan. I love this one!

If you need a good pan, try one of these. They do have different sizes and types as well if you don’t want one this big. Check out their website.

They can also be found on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.

Want To Make Attractive Cheese Trays?

If you want to make attractive cheese trays, you will need a good cheese slicer. Preferably one that has a bit of a design to the cut.

Picture of the cheese and truffle slicer from #Chefsperience. This Cheese Slicer/Truffle Shaver from #Chefsperience is great for slicing cheese pretty.

It is adjustable so you can make the slices really thin or thick.  It takes a bit of practice to actually get the cheese to look nice.

Picture of the cheese and truffle slicer being used to slice cheese. The cheese does have a nice ridge design on it.

I have only used the slicer for cheese, so far.

If this had been in my kitchen a few weeks ago, it would have come in handy for shaving a huge chocolate rabbit, that my husband bought me. That thing was solid chocolate, and I had a hard time cutting pieces small enough to eat.

This is a very well made product. It feels nice and sturdy, and looks really pretty. It is easy to clean too.

You can of course use it to slice anything you want to. It is sharp enough it should slice just about any vegetable, though I have not yet tried that.

Don’t Waste Your Kitchen Scraps

Stainless Steel Kitchen Compost Bin.Get one of these Stainless Steel Kitchen Compost Bins and save all your scraps for the garden. If you don’t garden yourself, one of your family members, or neighbors probably does.

They would probably be happy to bring you some of their extra produce in exchange for some compost.

This is also great for folks who raise chickens. I feed most of my scraps to the flock. What they don’t eat is left to decompose, and what they do eat, turns into chicken poop, which also makes good fertilizer.

This bin has a charcoal filter in the lid so you won’t have to worry about the scraps starting to smell before you can get rid of them either.

And it looks really nice. Sort of like a small trash can. It will fit under a cabinet, under the sink, or on the counter.

The compost bin on my counter.

It is really easy to clean too. I just rinse it most of the time, and give it a complete clean every few days.

It holds enough (1.2 Gallons) that you don’t have to worry about it filling up for a few days,  unless you are cooking for a horde, or preparing a month ahead, or so.

I am really happy with the one I have. It is getting a lot of use.

Round Salt And Pepper Grinder Set

Round Salt and Pepper Grinder Set from IFitCuisine. We used this Salt and Pepper Grinder Set for our holiday dinner. There were two tables so we needed an extra set.

My cousin fell in love with this set. No wonder, it is pretty. The tops are shiny stainless steel and the bottoms are clear glass. I love the round bottoms.

You can see the salt and pepper clearly. I used white sea salt but it looks just as good as the pink.

Round Salt and Pepper Grinder Set.These are big grinders and will hold a lot of salt and pepper. You won’t have to refill them very often.

Salt grinder in my hand.

They are very easy to use, and you can set the grind to be fine or coarse.

I really like this set, and so did everyone at our holiday dinner. They looked really nice on our big table.

The set comes with a guarantee: if you are not satisfied with the grinders for any reason iFit Cuisine will replace them or refund your purchase.

15 Best Restaurants In Portland By Doug Pitassi

Cover of 15 Best Restaurants in Portland by Doug Pitassi. This is a very nice list of the 15 Best Restaurants in Portland by Doug Pitassi.

Mr. Pitassi says, in the forward, that picking the top 15 restaurants was not easy. He says there are hundreds of restaurants in the Portland area that are worthy of being included.

He says that there is a restaurant in Portland for even the most obscure meal options.  Those range from traditional American fare, to Scandinavian dishes normally only found in Stockholm.

He says every restaurant that made this list provides consistently outstanding food.

His descriptions made me want to go to Portland just to eat.  He describes the food at each restaurant, the decor, and the prices.

I would love to check out The Tin Shed Garden Café, partly because you can take your dog there on “Doggie Love Night”. The Broder Nord also sounds interesting, mainly because I have never tried real Scandinavian food, and it sounds delicious.

Some of the other restaurants on his list include a Sushi place, a Barbecue joint, a Pizza place, and of course Italian.

If you are going to be traveling in the North West, you might want to make a point to stop over in Portland just to visit one of these great restaurants.

If you happen to live in Portland, there might be one or two on this list you didn’t know about.

Want To Prepare Your Own Herbs And Spices?

Marble Mortar and Pestle.

This little mortar and pestle set is great for preparing small amounts of herbs or spices.

It is also good for grinding up pills for your dogs, or yourself.

You can pretty much grind anything in it, including grains, tea, ginger, or garlic. I have used it to prepare some of my sage that I was drying for the winter.

It is pretty old fashioned, but it worked for centuries, and it will still work, even if the power goes out. Which is one of the things I like about it.

I feel more prepared for emergencies, when I have things that will work without power. If we have a big earthquake and have to live without power for months, I can still prepare and cook our food.

This one is made of marble, and it is pretty. You can get one and just have it for display.  Till you need it.

My marble mortor and pestle set.In my case it matches my kitchen. It looks nice on the counter.

I like it.

Great Gift For A Person Who Loves To Cook

Chefs Limited Cooking Utensil Set.This 6 Piece Kitchen Utensil Set from Chefs Limited would make a great gift for anyone who loves to cook.

It is good for anyone who only cooks under protest too. Those folks might even appreciate it more since it is easier to cook with proper utensils.

This set comes with a rotating stand for hanging the utensils on, so you can easily grab whichever item you need.

Promo picture of the 6 utensils in the Chefs Limited Set.

The set includes a Spaghetti Server, Slotted Spoon, Flipper Spatula, Whisk, Potato Masher,  and a Soup Ladle.

They are bigger than they look in these pictures.

Chefs Limited Flipper Spatula being used by me on hamburger patties.I used the spatula on hamburgers and it has a nice big handle that is easy to hold, and it is plenty big enough and sturdy enough to flip burgers easy.

I have also used the slotted spoon to stir and drain french fries.

My Chefs Limited Slotted Spoon and french fries.I don’t really get why it is called a slotted spoon though. It doesn’t have slots, it has holes. But either way it works.

I have also used the soup ladle, but didn’t get a picture of it. I love the soup ladle. It is big and holds almost enough for a full serving. It probably would be a full serving for anyone except a hungry man who wants his dinner and plenty of it.

I have not had a chance to use the spaghetti server, masher, or the whisk yet, but I will.

This is a gorgeous set of utensils and it matches my kitchen too!

The Chefs Limited Utensil Set on my kitchen counter.

These utensils are made with FDA approved Nylon Heads, and are heat resistant up to 410 degrees.

They have those little stands on the bottom of the handle too that keep heads from touching the counter (or pan) if you lay them down. I really like that.

Along with all that good stuff you also get a 100% money back guarantee.
