15 Best Restaurants In Portland By Doug Pitassi

Cover of 15 Best Restaurants in Portland by Doug Pitassi. This is a very nice list of the 15 Best Restaurants in Portland by Doug Pitassi.

Mr. Pitassi says, in the forward, that picking the top 15 restaurants was not easy. He says there are hundreds of restaurants in the Portland area that are worthy of being included.

He says that there is a restaurant in Portland for even the most obscure meal options.  Those range from traditional American fare, to Scandinavian dishes normally only found in Stockholm.

He says every restaurant that made this list provides consistently outstanding food.

His descriptions made me want to go to Portland just to eat.  He describes the food at each restaurant, the decor, and the prices.

I would love to check out The Tin Shed Garden Café, partly because you can take your dog there on “Doggie Love Night”. The Broder Nord also sounds interesting, mainly because I have never tried real Scandinavian food, and it sounds delicious.

Some of the other restaurants on his list include a Sushi place, a Barbecue joint, a Pizza place, and of course Italian.

If you are going to be traveling in the North West, you might want to make a point to stop over in Portland just to visit one of these great restaurants.

If you happen to live in Portland, there might be one or two on this list you didn’t know about.

Charge Your Electronics Using The Cigarette Lighter

Multi-Port car charger from Stalion. If your car has a cigarette lighter then you can use this universal multi-port car charger while on the go.

It has 5 USB ports, so you can charge multiple items at one time. It will work for any of your electronics that charge by USB.

The Stalion car charger recognizes different devices and uses the fastest speed for that particular device.

Picture of the Stalion Multi-Port(5) Car Charger in my husbands truck.

My husband has it in his truck. It has been used to charge his phone mostly. It does work on my Kindle. We could charge the kindle, his phone, and my phone at one time, and still have two ports for anyone else who is tagging along to use. So if every member of your family has something that needs charging, you won’t have to fight over the charger.

My husband really likes this charger. He has forgotten to charge his phone, and forgotten to charge the portable charger that he keeps in the truck. So he was out in the boonies with no way to charge his phone. Now that he has this charger that will not be a problem again. So long as his truck is working anyway.

This is a really nice looking charger too. We got the black one but you can get a white one if you want.

Proper Tire Pressure Helps Save Gas

TireTek Pressure Gauge.Proper tire pressure also helps to make your car a bit safer to drive. So you need to make sure you have the right amount of air in your tires.

In order to do that you need a good tire pressure gauge.

This heavy duty Professional Tire Pressure Gauge from TireTek will make that much easier.

It has a long flexible tube so it is easier to get it on the valve stem. You can get this gauge on there without any contortions at all.

My husband loves this thing. He took it out of the box as soon as it got here, and went out to check the air in my tires.

My husband using his new TireTek air pressure gauge on my car.The front tires all needed air, and he put air in them, using the TireTek gauge to check and make sure there was enough air.

He then informed me that he was gonna keep the new gauge in his truck. So I still don’t have one of my own. Yet.

This is a really nice product. It is well made and has a big face that is easy to see.

TireTek Air Pressure Gauge close up.The box says the display dial is 2″. It has the rubber around it to protect it from getting banged up, which is a good thing, because my husbands stuff tends to get a workout.

The box also says that all TireTek products are made to meet the ANSI B40.1 Grade B accuracy standard, and are 100% tested and approved, and can be found worldwide. It has a measurement range of 0-60 PSI, and has an integrated bleed button.

I really liked this tire pressure gauge. Too bad I didn’t get to keep it. On the other hand, now my husband has no excuse for not keeping my tires properly inflated for me. So I won’t have to do it myself. I’m cool with that.

K9 Cooler By My Kool Dog Review

The K9 Cooler is a great way to carry cool water for your dog (or other pets). The really great thing about it is you can keep the water cool!

Picture of the bottom of a K9 Cooler bowl showing where to put the ice.The bottom of the bowl has a stopper you remove to put ice(or water) in. Just be careful when you put it back because I didn’t get the stopper back in completely the first time and it leaked.

If you do use ice there will be some condensation on the outside just like on a glass, so don’t sit it down on something that you don’t want to get wet. The dogs won’t mind that at all…they like licking the outside too.

Picture of the top part of the K9 Cooler with water in it.The top bowl holds quite a bit of water. There is plenty in there for even a couple of big dogs.

If you filled the bottom with ice the water in the top will stay cool for a long time. I tested this on my back porch. I put ice in the bottom and water in the top and stuck it outside. The water stayed cool for hours! If it was in a hot car it wouldn’t last as long but it would stay cool for longer than a regular bowl (or jar).

The bowl is easy to use too. Much easier than carrying a bottle of water and a bowl like we used to do. This bowl will sit down on the ground or the car seat the dogs can drink easy without spilling.

Once all the water in the top in gone (or gets too hot) you just turn the bowl over (with the lid on!) and refill the top with the melted ice water.

I really like this K9 Cooler bowl!! They are made in the USA too.

If you want to try one for yourself you can order a K9 Cooler at My Kool Dog and during July you get free shipping (US only).

SAVE With The San Antonio Vacation Experience

SAVE With The San Antonio Vacation Experience

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of SAVE for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

San Antonio is making summer getaways more affordable than ever. SAVE – San Antonio Vacation Experience makes it easy to find deals on hotels, theme parks, and other attractions. With over $600 in savings it will certainly make vacation more affordable!

SAVE  partners include hotels and attractions. Ranging from budget to luxury, SAVE has an accommodation for every price range and need. Some hotels are available downtown and others near attractions and theme parks.. Make sure to check Limited Time Offers for special limited time deals.

Some of the Hotels you can SAVE on include: Grand Hyatt San Antonio, Hyatt Regency San Antonio on the Riverwalk, San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk Hotel, Hilton Palacio del Rio, and The Westin Riverwalk San Antonio, and the Crockett hotel.

Some attractions you can SAVE on are SeaWorld, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Schlitterbahn, Splashtown, Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, San Antonio Botanical Garden, & more.

For my vacation I would plan to stay at the Crockett Hotel and take advantage of the SAVE rates that range from $79 to $209.

One of the first things we would do is the Grand Trolley Tours to see historic San Antonio. Using a coupon from SAVE we would get $3 per person off.

Then we would check out the Buckhorn Mesuem and The Texas Ranger Meseum and of course the Texas Transportation Meseum. Using the SAVE discounts would get us $2 off the admission price at each place.

After that we would have to check out SeaWorld San Antonio. SAVE offers multiple discounts there.

Then my husband would insist on visiting Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort at $2 off.

I wouldinsist we visit the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch and use the $2 off coupon from SAVE.

The savings from the SAVE program on all of those would come to well over $50 so we would have some extra money to visit another attraction. Or maybe go shopping.

You can follow @SAVEinSA on Twitter to get all the updates on deals and limited time offers. They also offer ideas to help plan your next trip to San Antonio!

It Has Been An Exhausting Week

My grandmother passed away Tuesday afternoon. We spent the evening dealing with the ambulance and coroner crew and making the arrangements for her to be picked up by the funeral home.

Wednesday was spend making the funeral arrangements. Getting the flowers. Getting all the animals set up so they wouldn’t starve or die of thirst for a few days. And getting ready for a trip.

Thursday was spent on a long drive to Alabama because my grandmother had wanted to be taken home to be buried beside her parents and other family.

Friday was the funeral service and visiting with family for a while and the long drive home again.

Today I am trying to catch up on piles of laundry and dishes and stuffed email inbox and whatever else turns up that I might have forgotten.

Tomorrow my aunt is supposed to be here and we will probably be going through some of my grandmother papers and cleaning her kitchen and whatever needs to be done. After that I’m not sure…we may need to see a lawyer(or my mom will anyway).

It may be a few days before get it all together again. And it is possible that I won’t get it all together again…you never know.

If you sent me something important and I haven’t answered after a couple of days…please send it again. If I was supposed to do something for you…please remind me. Otherwise…I should catch up eventually.

Experience Boston Tourism:The Must-See Sights You’ll Love Review

Boston Tourism Essentials: The Must-See Sights You’ll Love by Deborah Bradley is a pdf ebook. It is written by a native Bostonian who didn’t realize how special her hometown was till she left it. It looks to be an excellent guide to the tourist attractions of Boston. I have not been to Boston yet myself so I can’t say for sure if she has included everything you might want to see. But she sure did include a lot.

One thing I would like to do is take one of the walking tours she talks about. They cover the Freedom Trail which includes such places as the Park Street Church, Old South Meeting House, Paul Revere House, and The Old North Church. She has included links for where to download maps and get more information about all the stops on the Freedom Trail.

The book includes a LOT of information about Fenway Park and its history. Baseball fans will definitely want to read the information about touring the park.  There is information about events other than baseball at Fenway park as well. And she includes information on how to get there and where to buy tickets.

There is information on the Commons and the Public Gardens including historical facts and directions on getting there.

Then she talks about the museums in Boston. There are enough to keep you busy for a while. If you are only staying a few days you will not have time to see them all.  I personally would visit the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Harvard Museums first. Then if there was still time…the other Art Museums.

As a bonus there is information about the Boston Public Transportation System. You might want to read this if you are short on cash.  Much cheaper way to go then taxis. And easier than driving. Of course according to this many of the places are withing walking distance.

If you are planning a trip to Boston or even just thinking you might want to go someday this would be a helpful resource. You can get a copy free just by signing up for the Boston Tourism Made Easy-Boston Event Guide Newsletter.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Hampton Inn on Gratiot Ave. in Roseville, Michigan

The Hampton Inn on Gratiot Avenue in Roseville, Michigan is a wonderful place to stay. We only stayed there one night and didn’t get to use all the amenities. They have a gym and a swimming pool that we didn’t get to use. I wish we had been able to stay an extra day. Next time maybe.

We got there late in the evening as well and they didn’t have any rooms with single beds left, so we had a room with two huge beds. We only used one of them but it was nice to have two…just in case. Each bed had 4 pillows! 4! I really really liked that.

The info sheet they leave in the room said that was so you could pick the firmness you liked best. The pillows ranged from really soft to really firm. I liked the middling firm one myself. My husband goes more for soft. So we were both happy. The duvet on the bed was really nice too. You can actually buy those! They are pretty expensive but really nice. You can see them on the Hampton Collection site.

The room had a big flat screen TV which my husband really liked. It also had a microwave and a small refrigerator which we didn’t use. It had internet access as well. If we had a laptop we could have gotten online and done our emails from the hotel!

My husband was excited to get a newspaper the next morning. He wasn’t aware that was part of the package. They also had a breakfast in their lobby. The coffee was really good. The food was ok but not great. They had some small cheese omelets and sausage. They also offered breads of different kinds and fruit.  They people working there were very nice.

This was the first time in almost 20 years that I have stayed in a hotel. It was much nicer than I expected. I enjoyed it very much and would not at all mind doing it again!
