CommentLuv is on sale today. This is one of my favorite plug ins.
There is a free version but the paid version has a lot more to it. I broke down and bought it a while back.
It has an anti spam section you can use if you want to as well as twitter links, the ability to allow people who comment to choice which of ten posts they want to link to, and the ability to make the links nofollow or dofollow.
It also has a new section that allows emails to be sent when a reply is made to a comment.
If you have ever thought about getting the paid version you should do it now…while the sale is still on.
I got this book when I was trying to decide whether or not I wanted to move to WordPress. I didn’t know anything at all about WordPress. Just about everyone was saying that you could do a lot more with wordpress but I wanted to know something of what I was getting into first. So I bought this book.
This book was an excellent choice. With it you also get access to an online version on Safari Books Online. They have video tutorials as well as audio. I didn’t use the audio part but the videos are neat. The book itself has screenshots of how things are done.
It starts at the beginning with an introduction to what WordPress is and the difference between the .org and com. versions. Then it continues on to Domains and Hosts in chapter one. This chapter explains the importance of such basics as choosing a domain name and a host.
The next chapters go on to talking about how to install WordPress, how to navigate the dashboard, and configuring WordPress to work its best. It then goes on to how to find plugins and use them, how to find a theme you like and install it, how to organize and manage your content, how to make your blog search engine friendly, how to manage multimedia, and how to make your blog secure.
The Author is Tris Hussey who according to the book was Canada’s first professional blogger and is a leading expert in business blogging. He has written other books including Create Your Own Blog: 6 Easy Projects to Start Blogging Like a Pro and Sams Teach Yourself Foursquare in 10 Minutes.
A lot of this information can be found online and you can read it free. I like having it all in one actual book that I can look at any time and sit in the recliner and read. I haven’t managed to use all the information yet. I’m still working on the organizing. I’m beginning to think that is something that never actually ends. Like housework.
